2.2: Applying Effective Online Teaching Methods

2.2 Students will apply effective online teaching methods to design and facilitate learning experiences and assessments for their peers and for authentic online learning contexts.

Evidence 1: During the Spring of 2016, I completed EDU-630: The Adult Learner. During the course, we covered many topics relating to how adults learn. One of the assignments during the course was to create a module in the class to teach fellow classmates content from one of the chapters in our textbook.

I chose to design the module for Chapter 4 of the textbook. Chapter 4 covered Self-Directed Learning. My task was to create a week-long learning module for the class. I could design it anyway as I saw fit, so long as I provided the background information and ways to assess the students. Here are some samples from the module I created.

The students were given an Overview of Self-Directed Learning, learning outcomes, a pre-test using google forms, instructional materials including a powerpoint, recording lecture, notes, and an outline. A optional digital crossword puzzle was created to help the students practice the content. Several YouTube videos were also included to help students understand the material. Here are a few samples of the documents I provided in the module for students to use and study with.

Students were also asked to take a post-test at the end of the module that was created using google forms.
